When we purchased the kitchen set at the ReUse store we didn’t see the hole in the granite. We have purchased a smaller cabinet so we can cut off part of the damage.

Putting kitchen together
We went to BuilderMaterials Outlet to look for a lower cabinet and were successful. We found a hickory cabinet with flat drawers that Steven will use a router to create a design like the present drawers. I found a stain that also matches the cabinets. We could now put the sink and dishwasher in place.
Getting Ready to Sand floors
Extra cabinets and tools moved to kitchen to clear dining room and living room for floor sanding.
Kitchen door trimmed
The kitchen door into the dining room is trimmed with white trim matching the windows.
Replacing resin paper
The resin paper shut out too much sun. I found a roll of fabric in my crawl space. It was from IKEA that I purchased from Goodwill. It screens out most of the hot sun while letting in more light. The photo is an exterior shot.
Kitchen door trim
Steven adjusted the door so I could add the trim.
West kitchen window completed
Added the top pieces of the kitchen window. I also adjusted the right vertical window.
Vertical Kitchen Window Completed
Steven ripped boards for the kitchen window. I painted and installed.
Side Trim Boards
Put trim boards on 3 sides of the upper window. The lower board needs to wait until after the upper cabinets are installed. The lower window has the two side trim boa.
Too much heat
We installed the south kitchen windows to have passive solar heat. We have discovered though that the summer sun is heating up the kitchen too much so I found some red resin paper to keep it out.
