Old, Dull to Hammered Copper

The radiators had all been painted and not looking so good. It would be very difficult and costly to have them sand blasted and too hard to do it ourselves. So I cleaned them as best I could with a bottle brush and scrub pad. Then I spray painted the smallest one (for the sitting room) a Hammered Copper. We are very happy with it.

We didn’t like the copper on the larger one. Not sure what we will paint it.

South Bedroom Radiator

The north bedroom will be a soft muted pink with wall paper on one wall. I decided to paint that radiator Champagne Pink.

Let the Light Shine In

While Steven worked on the electricity, I worked on the window that will be installed above the south kitchen cabinets. I framed and window wrapped it. I need to add wood across the top and then we can install it. It will give wonderful warm sun in the winter. We had removed a window earlier below it. We will need to patch it next spring with pieces of lap siding. The strip above the window is tar papered. We are thinking of putting in decorative shakes.

Electrical Wires and More Wires

Steven has spent the month installing the electrical. We are working with Julie, a licensed electrician. Steven’s work impressed her. She forgot to tell him about a change in the code and he will have to pull new 14-4 wire to the three fan/lights and to the switch at the bottom of the stairs. She liked the way he did the electrical sub panel. We tested the circuits and they all passed.

ReStore purchase

We have been going often to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore.  We found this shower base that will be great for the lower bathroom that will be partially handicap accessible. We can’t do 36 inch doors. We had to redesign the bathroom to use it. Also tar papered the exterior wall. It had been bare particle board for 6 years!
