The second floor is ready for electricity. We have an electrician to help us and many of the supplies. We had all the outlets but the code now is that they must be tamperproof so we can’t use any of them but we will be able to use the boxes that we got cheap. We went to the ReUse store and found some outlets.
The fence had never been painted and it had deteriorated. Steven made repairs and I painted.
We have made some changes in the floor plan especially with the bathroom on the second floor. We have separated it into two rooms to allow more people to use them at the same time.
We need to remove a fuel oil tank, oil boiler, and water heater from the basement. All are very heavy. So Steven cut a hole in the floor (needed repair any way) and a hole in the ceiling. We purchased a 1/2 ton hoist and Steven installed it.
A young man who worked on the house last summer knows electricity. He agreed to help us and his father-in-law is a licensed electrician and could pull the permit. He has stood us up! Doesn’t respond to our communications. So I called our plumber for a reference. He found us a young woman who has agreed to work with us. We are meeting with her tomorrow morning. Working with a woman is exciting, although it will really be Steven who will be doing the electrical work.
After taking the winter off, we are back to the rehab. I worked on cleaning up the interior of all the junk left from last summer. We purchased the 2″ insulation for the second floor walls. We gave the kitchen stove away for salvage so we’d have more room to work in the kitchen. We’ve decided to wait to work on the porches until we had the interior done.
We’ve planted flowers and the Wieglia is blooming profusely.
We had a lot of rain and the sump pump went out. We purchased a new one and Steven installed it. It is also now pumping to the outside instead of into the laundry tub.
The second floor was really warm yesterday so I took three mini-blinds that we had and covered the south windows. I showed Steven how they looked from the outside and he said, “It looks like someone lives here now!”
