Bathrooms

Making progress! The tub room and water closet are mudded, sanded, primed and the ceiling are painted.

A friend gave us an old stained glass window. The strips around the outside were missing some pieces but could be repaired. We will install in the wall between the water closet and the hall to allow more light into the hallway.

I taped the wall paper I planned to use in the tub room. I had painted the outside of the tub a burgundy color. The vanity and mirror were from the ReStore- only $50.

After adding 2″ insulation on the south shower wall, we also added strips for installing the cement board. Two pieces of cement board installed on the east east side of the shower.

The main floor has 9′ ceilings. We are leaving all the height except for the bathroom. Yesterday and today I installed 2 x 4s for an eight foot ceiling. The lowered ceiling will allow Steven to install the plumbing above the ceiling.

I had to redo two joists because the 2 x 4s were warped and I didn’t want the sheet rock marred. Steven worked in the basement on plumbing and electrical.

The shower drain took some testing and retesting, cutting flooring away and checking it out in the basement.

The shower base fit next to the Go Board. So we proceeded to take the base back out and install the Go Board. Go Board is more expensive than cement board but lighter weight and it is waterproof. Cement board is only water-resistant.

The shower base was 5′. We cut the left side seat off so it would into the bump out.

After cutting the base, the next step was to cut a hole in the floor for the drain. This took a bit of adjusting and cutting.

We also had to cut more subfloor in the basement.
