My pre-op showed a low heart rate and an abnormal EKG. I had a 24 hour heart monitor and the cardiologist approved my surgery. When I saw my hematologist he said, “I am not a cardiologist but if you were a member of my family I would encourage you to cancel your surgery and see a different cardiologist.” So I saw a different cardiologist who was very thorough. I had an Echocardiogram, another EKG. He then ordered a MRI stress test and a 30 day heart monitor. I learn the results in September. For now the hip replacement is canceled again indefinitely.

Wallpaper and Paint in the Tub Room
I had found this wallpaper for the tub room at Goodwill. I didn’t have enough for the entire room and decided to paint a wainscot on the lower part. A chair rail will come just under the granite vanity top. The wallpaper is striped rose pattern. I had JUST enough with only scraps left.
Water Closet Medicine Chest and Lights
Found More Wallpaper
I had thought I only had one more roll of the north bedroom wallpaper but discovered I had 4 more rolls. I finished the north wall and decided to also do the opposite wall where the bed will be placed. I also did one wall of the closet. Still have wallpaper left but decided to move on to the south bedroom. I had two rolls of wallpaper (again thrift store find).
A Fun Day and a Helping Hand
A friend offered a day of work at Rose Cottage, plus brought a wonderful lunch. The first task we undertook painting the North bedroom windows.
Then Cheryl painted a gold color on the dormer walls and the north wall adjoining the dormer. Looked great.
I started washing windows while Cheryl painted but quickly decided it was too hot and moved on to putting up wallpaper in the north bedroom. Cheryl came to help when she had finished painting. I only had one roll of the paper at the house so we were not able to finish it. I have one more roll at home.
Steven was busy with lights in the two bathroom areas. He changed the way the tub room was wired. To do so he had to cut the sheetrock and redo it with a mesh patch and mudding.
The mud needed to dry before sanding so Steven moved on to the wiring for the light in the water closet. First he needed to install the medicine chest so he could determine where to put the electrical box for the light. We had found this medicine chest that someone was throwing away. I painted it and it looked like new.
Radiator Do-Over
The north bedroom radiator is spray painted the same color as the ceiling fan.
A Busy Lighting Day
The walls and ceilings are painted and it is time to ready for the final electrical inspection. Steven installed the hall lights, the middle room ceiling light and the south bedroom ceiling fan and light. We had planned to install a fan in the middle room but Steven had a vintage light fixture he really wanted to use. The south bedroom fan and light fixture was a puzzle to determine how to wire it. It had a fan, a middle light fixture and then the lower light with globes. It was also an extremely hot day.
North Bedroom Ceiling Fan and Light
We left the paddles on this fan white and used the side with the caning to give a more vintage look.
Refurbishing Free Ceiling Fans
We discovered we had 7 ceiling fans we had picked up free at various places. They all worked except for one! They were all bright gold colors so after taking them apart, I spray painted 3 of them. The paddles just needed cleaning and retaining.
Sheetrock Touchups
Steven had to do many mudding touchups as we are not totally proficient in this skill.
