Extra cabinets and tools moved to kitchen to clear dining room and living room for floor sanding.
Living Room
Filling in Flooring prior to Sanding
There were holes on each side of the living/ding doorway where bookcases used to be. Steven filled those spaces in with extra flooring before we sand. A china cabinet will be on one side and a bookcase on the other.
ReStore Finds
The ReStore had .been greatly enlarged. Because of the COVID virus we had stayed away. today we went looking for trim. we found that and much more. I wanted to find a small bookcase we could use in the living room.across the doorway from the China cabinet. I found 6 chairs for $4 each. They were old with needlepointed rose seat coverings. We found 2 white support pillars for $9 each – value $90 each. We found a bunch of trim. We couldn’t get two chairs in the car so need to return tomorrow.
2 of 6 chairs Bookcase 2 support pillars
Original Maple flooring covered with adhesive residue
I am scraping as much adhesive residue off the floor as possible before future sanding.
Finally an empty living room
Baseboard added in corner and radiator slid in place
We sorted the baseboard trim (after restoration) and installed baseboard, top piece and quarter round in the corner so the radiator could be slid in. We are working to get radiators in place so the heating system can be completed
Adding a china cabinet between
On the way to church, we found the cabinet along side the road. We have hardwood flooring missing because built in bookcases are missing and that spot needs covering up. Steven removed part of the wall, so the doorway outdoors be at least 32”
Doorway between Dining and Living Rooms
I added drywall and muddled the jam of the doorway. Steven later added more mud to even it out.
Living Room Stencils
I had planned to stencil both the bottom and toons of the living room walls. An idea I got from the living room walls on Miss Fischer Murder Mysteries. After painting two stencils, I decided to only paint stencils on the lower portion. I will wait to paint the rest after we have installed the 10” baseboard trim and the chair rail.
Living Room Windows Trimmed
The north window is an original window trimmed with its original trim. The west window is a new Pella window that we found on the side of the road from a house that was getting all new windows. We were able to trim it with trim matching the north window.
