We are not proficient at sheetrock work so Steven is doing a lot of touch up to smooth the walls out
Making progress! The tub room and water closet are mudded, sanded, primed and the ceiling are painted.
To add even more light to the hallway Steven cut a hole above the tub room door for a “window”. It couldn’t be centered exactly because of stud placement. It will be installed after the hall is faux painted and I have painted the trim around the window.
Steven created the opening for the stained glass window, built a wood frame around the glass and installed the window. Lovely light flows through it into the hall.
We hired a gentleman to mud and tape our sheetrock. He was not a skilled mudder so we decided to finish it ourselves. Steven purchased an electric sander. I tried it out but found it heavy.
My surgery was successful and I am feeling so much more energetic. Before surgery I was extremely fatigued. I am ready to begin work on Rose Cottager again. My hip replacement has been rescheduled.
At my pre-op for my hip replacement, my doctor discovered high parathyroid hormone and high blood calcium. I needed to see an endocrinologist before surgery. He confirmed the high levels and also did a 24 hour urine calcium test. This confirms that I have a parathyroid tumor and we have decided to cancel the hip replacement again and have the parathyroid tumor removed first.
I had planned to have my right hip replaced on Dec 7th. It was canceled by a hematologist because of a blood condition that could have caused a stroke or a blood clot. I am undergoing treatment for Polycythemia Vera. A rare blood cancer that is inherited. It is treatable but not curable. I will reschedule when Dr. Hugec says my blood work is acceptable.
We are taking a break from working on Rose Cottage and decided to update our own kitchen. We took the doors off and brought them to Rose Cottage where I prepped and painted them an off white. We also installed new flooring in the kitchen and small dining area. I will remove the wallpaper and will paint the backsplash a dark grey as we are not ready to install the tile backsplash until we decide what we want to install to replace the counter top.
