After removing the chimney from the second floor, we decided to continue removing it in the kitchen so we would have better kitchen efficiency. Steven swung a sledge hammer from the hole in the second floor. he antique bricks are gone from the house to a pile outside. This time Steven removed the bathroom window and we threw the bricks out that space. We have a large pile of bricks now.

Let the Light Shine In
While Steven worked on the electricity, I worked on the window that will be installed above the south kitchen cabinets. I framed and window wrapped it. I need to add wood across the top and then we can install it. It will give wonderful warm sun in the winter. We had removed a window earlier below it. We will need to patch it next spring with pieces of lap siding. The strip above the window is tar papered. We are thinking of putting in decorative shakes.

New East Kitchen Window (Late Last Fall
We managed to install the window that will be over the kitchen sink. We found it in a salvage store – almost perfect fit in the opening of the window we removed. We also installed a window to the west and the door going from the kitchen porch to the kitchen.
