We were at a thrift store and Steven found these 4 Asian wall panels at a great price. They looked great above the bed in the Asian room. The colors were perfect – burgundy and silver/gray. The cranes are symbolic of long life.
Posts were set into cement, then framing added and painted. The materials used were left over materials from the rehab.
Steven cut the hole in the decking for the posts to fit through. The decking was rescued when a neighbor replaced his decking. The back side was used and sanded.
Steven finished edges and other details on the roof. Because we were both getting hip replacements this summer, we hired someone to climb on the roof and install the last roof edges and trim.
We went to ReUse Center. I said I hope we don’t find any furniture but if we do it will be me. Well it was and it was a deal and goes beautifully in the living room.
And then a friend crocheted an afghan that goes beautifully too.
We changed the position of the door to the kitchen porch and then needed to remove the cement steps. Steven rented a jack hammer but even then it was a huge job and not finished in one day. We took the large pieces and made a perimeter in the back of the house.
